The Male Involvement Program targets 10-17-year-old-males in Vigo
County. Potential participants go through a job application process,
including an interview, to participate in the program. The program
curriculum includes intensive training and education in reproductive
health and job readiness skills. Participants work in family planning
clinics and conduct peer education presentations in the community
following completion of the curriculum. Male involvement participants
demonstrate positive attitudes towards male involvement in reproductive
health. Parental involvement is a major component of the program.

Planned Parenthood of Minnesota/South Dakota - Brainerd, MN*
The Wise Guyz education and mentoring program focuses on adolescent
males 14-17 years of age. Phase one of the project uses a multidimensional
approach to providing education through a 15- session curriculum covering
such topics as human sexuality, HIV/AIDS, family planning, decision
making, abstinence, careers, and diversity. The curriculum is delivered
by physicians, nurses, and health educators. Phase 2 includes 4 hours
of community volunteer work in hospitals, nursing homes, clinics,
or an arboretum. The program emphasizes developing favorable community
attitudes toward adolescent males as well as fostering self- esteem

This project targets low income African-American and Hispanic/Latino
young men between 15 and 19 years of age. Youth are recruited from
partnering agencies to participate in education, counseling, and discussion

Project Brotherhood - A Black Men's Clinic/Woodlawn Health Center**
Project Brotherhood is a multidimensional project targeting very high
risk young men through linkages with Cook County Hospital Trauma Unit,
Safer Foundation (a nonprofit program for ex-offenders), and Cook
County Primary Care Internal Medicine residency training program.
The project includes education, art therapy, street outreach, and
condom distribution, as well as clinical reproductive health services

Peer Advocacy for Health Program - Family Health Center**
This center provides a total of 6 months (twice a week after school)
training in reproductive health and adolescent development, as well
as job skills training to adolescent males in a clinic setting. this
leads to certification as a "peer advocate" and employment
