The mission of the Center for Cross Cultural Health is to integrate
the role of culture in improving health and to ensure that diverse
populations receive culturally competent and sensitive health care.
In order to achieve this goal, the Center is actively involved in
the education and training of health care providers in the State of
Minnesota to be culturally diverse in their health practices. The
Center is also an invaluable resource center with regards to disseminating
information related to cross-cultural education. Through information
sharing, training, and research, the Center works towards achieving
its goals in making the health care profession in Minnesota and world
culturally competent.

Based in Seattle, WA., this program has many Internet links to other
resources online. It offers information on cultural competency and
interpreter training, develops research projects, engages in community
coalition building, and serves as a bridge between communities and
health care institutions to ensure full access to quality health care
that is culturally and linguistically appropriate.

The Institute of Technology library houses this site to promote culturally
competent health care for refugees and immigrants. CulturedMed has
an extensive list of comprehensive general bibliographies and further
divides them into ethnic or cultural groups. It has links to other
cultural health web sites, refugee and immigrant health databases
and statistics, foreign language materials, libraries with ethnic
collections, and resettlement agencies. Cultural topics include cultural
competency, death and dying, domestic violence, food, medical interpreters,
dental care, transcultural nursing, and women and child health.

in health care. It is supported by the National Conference of State
Legislatures, Resources for Cross Cultural Health Care, and the Henry

Native American resources on the Internet. It has links to current
information, news, and events of interest to Native Americans. It
has resources for learning and finding accurate information and the
user can communicate with other users via the web site.

The Office of Minority Health advises the Office of Public Health
and Science on public health issues affecting American Indians and
Alaska Natives, Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians and Other Pacific
Islanders, Blacks/African-Americans, and Hispanics/Latinos. Its mission
is to "improve the health of racial and ethnic populations through
the development of effective health policies and programs that help
to eliminate disparities in health." It works closely with other health
and human services agencies and their minority health representatives.
Regional minority health consultants serve as representatives. This
web site has many federal and non-federal health links regarding minority
health.
