Did you know that MPRES has arranged for YOU to have access to Medline and other professional journals online? It’s time to make Ovid work for YOU!

As a Regional Training Center, MPRES is tasked to improve Title X personnel’s family planning skills, enhance electronic health information access, and promote the translation of research and incorporation of best practice guidelines into clinical practice. One of the ways that MPRES works to meet these goals is by providing all Region V / Title X personnel with online access to professional journals and Medline via the Ovid platform. Ovid is used by medical personnel at the world’s leading universities, medical schools and clinical practices to search professional publications smarter, faster, and more effectively. The newly updated OvidSP online tool features multiple search modes geared to all levels of searchers.

The purpose of this program is to orient all Region V Title X staff to OvidSP and demonstrate how to best use it to meet their medical information needs. Join Melida Busch, MLIS for a 1-hour webcast that will:

• Give a basic overview of the Medline database
• Walk you through setting up a Personal Account in OVID
• Provide guidance in conducting basic searches utilizing the National Library of Medicine’s MESH subject headings
• Show you how to begin utilizing OVID’s electronic Table of Contents (eTOC) service, saved searches and alerting functionality to keep up to date on clinical topics you select.

Participation in this program requires an internet computer connection AND telephone.

CONTINUING NURSING EDUCATION CREDIT is available to eligible applicants for a $10 application fee. MPRES has designated this program for 1.0 contact hour.

REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED and the number of participants is limited, so register early. Several staff members may follow the program on one registrant’s computer and speakerphone. The webcast is free but available ONLY to Title X staff in Region V (Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, and Wisconsin). ALL materials and instructions will be supplied by email.
